Champions of Literacy believe inside every child is a reader, writer, and thinker, and that it takes all of us, working together, to provide the tools our children need to become who they are meant to be. By becoming a Champion of Literacy and supporting Tree House Books, you help ensure that every child has access to books, the skills to become a lifelong reader and writer, and every opportunity to pursue their dreams.
Our Fall Literacy Studio sessions begin for your children. Register today!
Ages 7-12 are crucial years when children develop a profound passion for reading and all the opportunities it brings. Every afternoon, our space transforms into a haven for creative expression, where, through self-selected activities, students become artists, musicians, scientists, dancers, and - of course - readers, writers, and thinkers!
Tree House Books is marking the launch of our fall programs with a special Open House celebration. Join us for good food and great company, with inspiration from our speaker, Leonard Chester. Guests will also find out what's new at Tree House, and see first hand how we are changing lives in the community together.
It’s carnival time! At Tree House on August 7th, we’re bringing out all the stops for our carnival day. Games like cornhole, cup throw, and ring toss are fun for the family together. For kids, there will be balloon animals and for the kid in all of us, we’ll have cotton candy and popcorn!
We’re turning Tree House Books into Camp Tree House! We’re doing all of the classic camping activities in our indoor and outdoor spaces. Over the campfire, we’re roasting marshmallows, making smores, doing crafts, and telling scary stories. Inside, there will be a scary story workshop where storytellers can take their work outside to the campfire.
Have you heard about our Words-on-Wheels program? Each summer, Tree House Books goes door to door with bundles of books for families to add to their own libraries. In five of the bundles, we will include a Golden Ticket. If you find one, you can redeem it at our Willy Wonka factory for a bag of candy! At the event, we’ll also have a chocolate fountain, read from the Roald Dahl classic book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and watch part of the movie Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory!
Alice is coming to Tree House Books for an Alice in Wonderland Party and she’s bringing all of the fixings for a proper tea party. Hot tea, iced tea, finger sandwiches, scones, card games, a chess set…. you name it, we got it. Most importantly, Alice herself is making an appearance! She’ll be teaching kids how to draw on tea cups!
Best dressed wins a prize!
Join us at Tree House Books on July 10th for a Family Yoga event! We will be reading books about yoga and mindfulness to get in the calm mindset and then doing a guided family yoga.
Afterwards, we will have conversations about mindfulness and intentionality in everyday life and the habits we practice in order to reinforce those values!
I scream! You scream! We all scream for ice cream! Tree House Books is hosting an ice cream social on July 3rd or July Fourth Eve. This is a great opportunity to introduce a child to the Tree House space – there will be food, fun, other people, and a welcoming environment. We will be making our own ice cream and then topping them with our favorite goodies before enjoying!
Add another destination on your itinerary by starting off your Father's Day weekend with us on Wednesday the 13th! Help your child jazz up cards for their fathers or other important mentors in their lives with free art supplies and help from our volunteers. Children and families can work together to write creative and heartful cards to the most important people in their lives. We will have stickers, markers, paint, and all the art supplies you can imagine, so your child's creativity can truly shine for this family holiday!
